This is why the Oakland Raiders have two capable running backs.
Bush was leading the race to be Oakland’s starter during the preseason, partly because McFadden was dealing with a hamstring injury. But Bush broke his thumb in the third preseason game and missed the first two games of the season. He has played only in a limited role since.
McFadden, the No. 4 overall pick, has broken out so far this season. He is tied for the third most rushing yards in the NFL with 392. The only issue with McFadden now appears to be whether he can stay healthy for long stretches.
Bush is a strong runner and Oakland should be in good shape on the ground as it tries to end a 13-game losing streak to the Chargers. Meanwhile, Oakland guard Robert Gallery will miss his fourth straight game with a hamstring injury.
For San Diego, linebacker Brandon Siler (foot) is doubtful after not practicing all week. Linebacker Shawne Merriman (calf) is questionable with a calf injury. He practiced fully for the first time all week. Right guard Louis Vasquez was a surprise full participant in practice Friday. He was expected to miss his second straight game with a knee injury. He is listed as questionable to play.
In Denver, cornerback Andre Goodman (thigh) is questionable to play at Baltimore and in Kansas City, defensive end Tyson Jackson (knee) is questionable to play at Indianapolis. He’s been out since the first week.
