There is not a defensive player in the NFL who is playing better than Denver outside linebacker Von Miller.
Von Miller is second in the NFL with 10 sacks and leads all NFL players with seven sacks since Week 5. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 draft has 21.5 career sacks -- a team record for a player in his first two NFL seasons.
According to ESPN Stats & Information, Miller is the fifth player in the NFL to register at least 10 sacks in his first two NFL seasons since it became an official statistic in 1982. Two AFC West players -- Kansas City’s Derrick Thomas (Miller's idol and the reason why he wears No. 58) and San Diego's Shawne Merriman – are also on the list.
Miller is a big reason why Denver’s defense has begun to play at a high level. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Denver’s defense has sacked or put quarterbacks under duress on 28.3 percent of drop backs this season. It is the highest rate in the NFL.
