Chiefs make a snap judgment

The Chiefs switched long snappers Thursday.

The team re-signed Thomas Gafford. He played in nine games for Kansas City at the end of last season. He was released earlier this offseason as the Chiefs turned their long snapping attention to Tanner Purdum.

However, two days before their preseason opener, the Chiefs cut Purdum and re-signed Gafford. He is the only true long snapper on the roster and it appears he has the inside track at starting the 2009 season where he finished the 2008 season --- as Kansas City's long snapper.
