Breaking down A.Q. Shipley's 2-year contract with Cardinals

TEMPE, Ariz. -- This was the first time in his eight-year career that center A.Q. Shipley entered free agency coming off a 16-start season.

And he was paid for it.

Shipley signed a two-year contact with the Arizona Cardinals worth up to $3.5 million that includes a $725,000 signing bonus.

Here's a year-by-year breakdown of his contract:

2017: Shipley’s base salary will be $775,000, and paired with the $725,000 signing bonus and a $250,000 roster bonus, Shipley could earn up to $1.75 million this season. He will be eligible for a $15,625 roster bonus for every game he’s on the active 46-man roster with a maximum value of $250,000. Shipley’s deal also includes $250,000 worth of not-likely-to-be-earned (NLTBE) incentives.

Cap hit: $1,387,500

2018: Shipley’s base salary will increase to $1.5 million this season and include the same roster bonus, as well as NLTBE incentives, bringing his salary up to $1.75 million.
