Only two rookies regularly contributing to Cardinals

Here's a look at the first-half impact of the Arizona Cardinals' draft class:

Haason Reddick, LB, first round: First, Reddick played defensive end his senior year at Temple and moved to inside linebacker with the Cardinals. He was nervous to make a mistake so his play was cautious and tepid. Then the Cardinals moved him to outside linebacker after Markus Golden got hurt, putting Reddick at his third position in nine months. That’s a lot for any player, not just a rookie, to manage. Grade: Average.

Budda Baker, S, second round: Baker has played like, well, a rookie this season. He’s shown glimpses of his talent while mixing in plays where his inexperience shows. The best thing he has going is the education he’s getting from the veterans around him. Grade: Average.

Chad Williams, WR, third round: Williams has ended the Cardinals’ run of successful third-round picks. He’s been inactive for five of seven games as he continues to adjust to the transition from the Football Championship Subdivision to the NFL. Grade: Bring on 2018.

Dorian Johnson, G, fourth round: Johnson was cut after training camp, signed to Arizona’s practice squad and then the Houston Texans signed him away to the active roster. Grade: Incomplete.

Will Holden, T, fourth round: It’s tough to fault Holden for getting thrown to the wolves this season. He’s a natural tackle who had to play tight end one game and start at left guard in another. The baptism by fire, however, will be a blessing in disguise for the Vanderbilt product as he continues to learn and grow. Grade: Average.

T.J. Logan, RB, fifth round: Logan fractured his wrist in the Hall of Fame game and has yet to play. He was put on injured reserve and will be eligible to return in Week 9, but with David Johnson and Carson Palmer on IR, he’ll likely be done for the season. Grade: Incomplete.

Rudy Ford, DB, sixth round: Ford’s name has rarely been mentioned this season. He's played just one defensive snap. There’s not much room for him in the Cardinals’ secondary currently, so he’s been trying to make an impact on special teams. Grade: Below average.
