Flush the Pocket: Arians finds the good

Flush the Pocket will be your daily morning dose of the Arizona Cardinals. It’ll recap the top story line from the previous day and give you a look at what everyone is saying locally and nationally.

TEMPE, Ariz. – Bruce Arians arrived for his Monday-morning press conference well prepared.

He had a legal pad with notes to help guide his way through his opening comments. There was plenty of bad to talk about after the Cardinals’ 27-24 loss to the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, but Arians didn’t want to forget the good, either.

“We created two turnovers that were both huge,” Arians said. “One saved a touchdown and one scored a touchdown. Anytime you do that defensively, very seldom do you lose.”

Sacrificing an 11-point lead will do that, however.

Arians reaffirmed Levi Brown at left tackle and Jay Feely at kicker, but said tight end Rob Housler may miss another week.

Arians talked about three areas that didn’t live up to expectations Sunday: poor tackling, two-minute defense and the pass rush, or lack thereof.

AZCentral.com columnist Dan Bickley opines on why Arizona fans are upset with Brown.

Bob McManaman of AZCentral.com writes about defensive end Calais Campbell’s frustration with the Cardinals not recording a sack and recaps Arians’ press conference.

Craig Morgan of FoxSportsArizona.com put a bow on Sunday’s loss to the Rams.

Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com caught up with rookie guard Jonathan Cooper, who stopped by the Cardinals’ locker room Monday.
