SCOTTSDALE -- Hopefully Cardinals coach Bruce Arians makes good on a comment he made during his season-ending press conference.
Asked what he'll do with some of his downtime during the offseason, Arians said he'll be hitting the links.
"I'm going to try and hoping my golf swing isn't too bad," he said. "I get so pissed off I break all my clubs."
His group at the Annexus Pro-Am on Wednesday, part of the Waste Management Open at TPC Scottsdale, hopes he saves a few clubs to finish the round. Arians' group tees off at 10:10 a.m. off hole No. 1 of Stadium Course. He'll be paired with PGA Tour pro Charles Howell III.
Cornerback Patrick Peterson, fresh off his Hawaiian trip for the Pro Bowl, will begin at 10 a.m. on No. 10 on the same course. Peterson's PGA Tour pro will be Chris Kirk.
Other notable amateurs with NFL ties playing Wednesday will be former Cardinals and Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith (8:40 a.m., No. 1, Brandt Snedeker), former Washington Redskin Darrell Green (9:50 a.m., No. 1, Padraig Harrington) and former Bears quarterback Jim McMahon (8:50 a.m., No. 1, Charley Hoffman).
