A weekly examination of the Cardinals’ ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 26 | Last Week: 25 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
So this is what a win will do? The Cardinals showed a poise that was absent in Week 1 as they completed a 25-21 come-from-behind victory over the Detroit Lions in Week 2, vaulting them four spots in the Power Rankings.
Like Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Monday, there are no small things -- they’re all big things. The Cardinals have found out what works for them early this season, and they’re riding it. They’re third in the NFL in rushing yards allowed (58) but are tied for last in the league in sacks (one), which may not get them far in the vaunted NFC West.
The Cards also showed they could win -- in comeback fashion, no less -- without Pro Bowl receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who left the game with a hamstring injury, adding confidence to a budding offense. While there are concerns on both sides of the ball, such as the pass rush and the running game, the progress to respectability is evident.
