TEMPE, Ariz. -- For a few minutes Wednesday, Tyrann Mathieu was the center of the Cardinals’ universe.
The cameras’ bright lights illuminated a young man who’ll return to the city where he began to love football, where he cheered for the Saints’ Steve Gleason and from where he evacuated as Hurricane Katrina approached.
When those lights went dark, they moved a few lockers to Mathieu’s left and put the spotlight on Patrick Peterson, Mathieu’s mentor -- his guiding light in the NFL.
It might as well be LSU Week around the Cardinals’ practice facility, homage to the tradition-rich school where Mathieu, Peterson and rookie linebacker Kevin Minter all played college football.
Besides Larry Fitzgerald’s hamstring injury and the return of tight end Rob Housler to practice, the LSU boys were all anyone wanted to talk about.
