James Harrison to meet with Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals are scheduled to meet with former Pittsburgh and Cincinnati linebacker James Harrison on Wednesday, his agent confirmed to ESPN.

Harrison was expected to arrive at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport around 10:40 a.m. Arizona time, Harrison’s agent Bill Parise said. The meeting with the Cardinals could last anywhere from five minutes to five years, Parise added.

On Facebook, Harrison said his flight to Phoenix was delayed.

The 36-year-old Harrison was released by the Cincinnati Bengals in March after one season. He’s coming off one of the worst seasons of his 11-year career. While starting 10 of 15 games for the Bengals, Harrison had 30 tackles, two sacks and one interception -- his worst production since 2004.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has expressed a desire to improve on the pass rush, but Harrison may not be the answer. Harrison played 365 snaps last season, the majority on running downs.

Arizona leaves Wednesday for its preseason finale in San Diego, which kicks off 7 p.m. Thursday.
