Falcons coach Dan Quinn did not speak about the topic in detail but said it was a coach's decision. White had a brace on his left knee, the same knee he had drained last offseason. He also battled hamstring issues last season.
"Just not trying to have it flare up before we go into anything," Quinn said without referring to White's knee or hamstring specifically.
The Falcons also were down another wide receiver for the start of minicamp with Devin Hester excused for personal reasons. Hester's grandfather passed away Tuesday morning, leaving his status for the rest of minicamp limbo.
Top receiver Julio Jones, who awaits a contract extension, was on the practice field. Jones has given no indication of protesting his contract situation.
Starting right guard Jon Asamoah did not practice while recovering from an ankle injury, although he worked on a side field with the training staff. Starters William Moore (shoulder), Jake Matthews (foot), Joe Hawley (knee), Brooks Reed (groin) and rookie second-round pick Jalen Collins (foot) all participated in individual drills at the start of practice.
Moore and Collins also participated in 7-on-7 drills.
"It was great to see William back for the first time, and Jalen had a little bit of a taste of it before, so we got him a couple of team reps," Quinn said. "I felt [Collins'] length and quickness on the outside. And just William, inside, you feel the size and the presence of him. So I can't wait to have him down in the box and roaming inside."
