Falcons sign 20 undrafted free agents

The Atlanta Falcons found a couple of hidden gems last season in undrafted linebackers Paul Worrilow and Joplo Bartu.

Worrilow started 12 of 16 games and led the team with 127 tackles, while Bartu started 13 games and was third on the team in tackles.

Two other undrafted rookies, wide receiver Darius Johnson and offensive tackle Ryan Schraeder, made contributions last year.

Could the Falcons have the same type of success with undrafted players this year? General manager Thomas Dimitroff singled out three of the undrafted signees during an interview with 790 the Zone on Monday morning: Cornell quarterback Jeff Mathews, Tennessee center/guard James Stone, and Wisconsin tight end Jake Pedersen.

Mathews has a big arm and obviously is intelligent, and he could be one of three quarterbacks taken to training camp behind Matt Ryan. The team's offensive line woes give Stone a chance to possibly earn a reserve role. And if Pedersen (6-4, 240) shows the ability to block, he could stick.

Here is the complete listed of 20 undrafted free agents signed by the Falcons, as announced Monday evening. They'll join the nine drafted players at rookie minicamp, which begins Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET in Flowery Branch, Ga.:
