Breaking down Morgan Cox's contract with Ravens

Long snapper Morgan Cox re-signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday for a one-year, $825,000 contract.

Cox, who is coming off a season-ending knee injury, agreed to a below-market contract. His one-year payout of $825,000 is 20th among long snappers in 2015, and his $80,000 guaranteed money is tied for 23rd in the NFL.

In comparison, Beau Brinkley is the highest-paid long snapper after signing with the Titans this offseason, receiving $1.5 million (base salary and signing bonus) in 2015. There are 11 long snappers who are making $1 million or more this season.

Cox, who has been the Ravens' long snapper for the last five seasons, is making $15,000 more in base salary than he did in 2014. His $665,000 cap hit ranks 29th on the Ravens.

He is going to compete against Patrick Scales, an exclusive rights free agent who was tendered a one-year, $435,000 contract.
