The Baltimore Ravens have requested the NFL to schedule their away games at Oakland and San Francisco in consecutive weeks.
If the Ravens get this back-to-back Bay Area arrangement, the team would remain on the West Coast for the week in between those games and avoid another cross-country flight.
The Ravens would need to find a hotel, practice fields and workout facilities for an entire week.
"It presents challenges but I think it would be very beneficial if that could happen," team president Dick Cass said Monday.
Half of the Ravens' eight-game road schedule is out west in 2015. In addition to Oakland and San Francisco, the Ravens will make trips to Arizona and Denver.
The Ravens would only remain out west for the Bay Area games. They would return back to Baltimore if, for instance, their games at San Francisco and Denver were in consecutive weeks because it would still require a flight.
This is not an unprecedented move. Jim Harbaugh, the brother of Ravens coach John Harbaugh, kept the 49ers on the East Coast a couple of times when San Francisco had back-to-back games there.
The NFL is expected to announce its schedule in April.
The Ravens have not yet looked at potential places to stay in the Bay Area.
"As soon as the schedule comes out, if we're going to be back to back, there would be plenty of time [to find a place]," Cass said.
