WHITE MARSH, Md. -- Quarterback Joe Flacco isn't worried about whether the Baltimore Ravens will draft a wide receiver early next week. In fact, he probably won't even watch it.
The Ravens return only one receiver who had over 24 catches last season after they failed to replace Torrey Smith in free agency. That leaves Baltimore with Steve Smith, Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken, Michael Campanaro and Jeremy Butler.
"Obviously, without Torrey now, the one thing we probably don't have as much of is that speed, is that one guy who can stretch the field," Flacco said Saturday night at his charity event. "But I'm not going to say we need it. I think we got really good guys and I think we're good with who we have."
The Ravens could address wide receiver as early as Thursday's first round, where they have the No. 26 overall pick. Baltimore has been linked to Central Florida's Breshad Perriman and Arizona State's Jaelen Strong.
The franchise has only drafted a wide receiver in the first round twice in its 19-year existence. The Ravens selected Travis Taylor in 2000 and Mark Clayton in 2005.
"It's that where we go, that's where we go," Flacco said of taking a wide receiver early. "I trust these guys to get somebody good. I think we've got a good group and we are good with where we are."
In addition to the draft, Flacco addressed his own future with the team. Flacco's salary-cap number soars to $28.55 million in 2016, which ranks second in the NFL behind Miami defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh ($28.6 million).
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti told season ticket holders in April that he was confident that the team would a new deal done with Flacco after the season.
"I'd definitely like to [get a deal done]. It's good to hear him say that," Flacco said. "This has been my home for a good amount of time now and I consider it to be that. You think every now and then but not too much, honestly. You just go out and play and all that stuff will take care of itself."
The Ravens began their offseason workout program this week, which was the first time Flacco was allowed to talk about the offense with new offensive coordinator Marc Trestman.
Flacco set career highs in passing yards (3,986) and touchdowns (27) last season, when Gary Kubiak was calling the plays. He believes the Ravens can have continued success with Trestman.
"I'm really excited about Marc being here. I think he's a great mind," Flacco said. "I think he does a great job in the meeting room. My conversations with him have gotten me excited. I think he's excited about being here, which is always good. We were just back for the first week, and I think it went really well. I expect it to be that way."
This marked the fourth year that Flacco hosted a casino night a local car dealership. Over 400 fans attended the sold-out event, which benefits the Special Olympics.
"It's always great to come out to see the athletes and always see the excitement that they have," Flacco said.
