Running back Justin Forsett was conducting a conference call with Baltimore Ravens season-ticket holders Tuesday evening when he received a question from someone described as a person from Utah who is in his second season as a die-hard Ravens fan.
It happened to be teammate and good-natured agitator Steve Smith.
"Hey, Justin, it's an honor to speak to you," Smith said. "I've been a fan since you were like 4-foot-5."
Forsett, who is actually 5-8, knew he was in for a fun few minutes.
Smith continued his line of questioning by asking Forsett: "I just want to know, since you got that new contract, has it stopped you from running hard like you used to your first year? Are you still hungry or are you just going to rest on your laurels?"
Forsett laughed and replied: "There's no resting on my laurels, Steve. I work hard every day on the field. I think you can attest to that, right?"
Smith said: "I heard they gave you a vet day off yesterday."
Forsett then responded, "Yeah, it was the same one you got off."
When Smith announced that he was retiring at the end of the season, he said he was going to "enjoy the journey." He has certainly been doing just that, and teammates like Forsett can vouch for it.
