In his latest mock draft, ESPN's Todd McShay went three rounds as if he was running each team's war room (these are not his predictions). For the Baltimore Ravens, McShay addressed four significant needs with their four picks.
McShay selected one of the top wide receivers (Clemson's Mike Williams) in the first round, an underrated cornerback (Colorado's Chidobe Awuzie) in the second, and a pass-rusher from Ozzie Newsome's favorite school (Alabama's Ryan Anderson) and a massive right tackle (Vanderbilt's Will Holden) in the third.
These picks would generate plenty of excitement if they played out this way. All four would have a chance to make an immediate impact and compete for starting jobs right away.
Williams' size (6 feet, 4 inches), willingness to go over the middle and ability to win contested catches would complement Mike Wallace and Breshad Perriman. He has the look of being a No. 1 receiver for quarterback Joe Flacco, outleaping defenders on the deep ball, using his size in the red zone and dominating on slants to convert third downs.
In the second round, McShay is going with Awuzie, who hasn't generated as much buzz as other cornerbacks in this draft. He's an athletic defender who excels in man coverage but managed only three interceptions in college. Awuzie would team with another Colorado corner in Jimmy Smith.
Anderson is known for his high football intelligence but is considered an average athlete. He recorded nine sacks and returned on interception for a touchdown. The Ravens need to upgrade their pass rush with Terrell Suggs turning 35 in October and Elvis Dumervil being released.
Holden, the other third-round pick, is a three-year starter who looks like a right tackle. At 6-foot-7, he has good power but there are concerns about his short arms. Baltimore has a hole on the right side after Rick Wagner signed with the Detroit Lions in free agency.
