Marty Mornhinweg: Joe Flacco's stitched-up ear would've scared kids on Halloween

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg believes quarterback Joe Flacco missed a prime opportunity.

Mornhinweg wasn't criticizing his quarterback for anything that happened on the field. He was disappointed in how Flacco dropped the ball with the neighborhood trick-or-treaters.

"I told him, 'Geez, you need to pull that ear out on Tuesday night on Halloween,'" Mornhinweg said Thursday. "That's a good one, man. Have you seen it? Man alive."

Flacco's left ear was bloodied after taking a shot to the head from Miami Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso on Oct. 26. Flacco had the ear stitched up with no anesthesia at halftime, and it's quite a sight.

Mornhinweg asked Flacco whether he showed off that ear on Halloween.

"He said [the children] were over somewhere else and didn't have a chance," Mornhinweg said. "That'd scare a bunch of kids."

Flacco said that his ear required a couple of stitches and it doesn't bother him now.

"It is not really that big of a deal," Flacco said. "I guess my helmet could get ripped off again, and that might matter or something, but really, who cares? It is just a little bit of blood."
