Ray Rice doesn't practice for the Ravens

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was a surprise non-participant at Wednesday's practice with a thigh injury.

Rice made some critical runs at the end of Monday night's 18-16 win at Detroit, and he was on the field during the media viewing portion of practice. That's why no one expected to see Rice among the four players who didn't practice Wednesday.

This could be an additional rest day for Rice, given that the Ravens are on a short week following a road Monday night game. Rice missed his first game since 2008 earlier this season with a hip injury.

The only other starter on the injury report is quarterback Joe Flacco, who was limited with a left knee injury.

Here's the complete injury report:

Did not participate: RB Ray Rice (thigh), TE Dallas Clark (illness), CB Asa Jackson (thigh), LB Albert McClellan (neck).

Limited participation: QB Joe Flacco (knee).

Full participation: S Brynden Trawick (ankle).
