Draft facts: Ravens quarterback prospects

With the Baltimore Ravens looking to add a backup quarterback at some point in the draft, here are some numbers from ESPN Stats & Information on some selected prospects at that position:

SECOND OR THIRD ROUND

*Jimmy Garoppolo, Eastern Illinois: His 53 touchdowns last season are the fourth most in FCS history (three behind the record) and his 5,050 yards is second all-time, 26 behind the record set by Old Dominion’s Taylor Heinicke in 2012.

*AJ McCarron, Alabama: Completed 54.7 percent of his passes thrown 25 yards or longer since the start of the 2012 season, best among qualifying quarterbacks. He threw 17 touchdowns and no interceptions on 53 passes of this distance during that time.

Tom Savage, Pittsburgh: Threw under duress on 28 percent of his dropbacks, the highest percentage of any quarterback prospect. As a result, Savage was sacked an FBS-high 43 times last season.

THIRD OR FOURTH ROUND

Zach Mettenberger, LSU: His 38-point increase in Total QBR from 2012 (47.1) to last season (85.1) was the largest for any qualified quarterback the past two seasons.

Aaron Murray, Georgia: Averaged 9.5 yards per attempt since the start of the 2012 season, which ranked third in the FBS behind only Florida State's Jameis Winston and Baylor's Bryce Petty (minimum 300 attempts).

FIFTH ROUND OR LATER

*Logan Thomas, Virginia Tech: His receivers dropped 36 passes last season, most for any qualifying quarterback. If his receivers caught half of those passes, Thomas' completion rate would've gone from 56 percent to 61 percent.

Tajh Boyd, Clemson: Completed 54.7 percent of his passes thrown 20 yards or longer downfield last season, the highest completion percentage of any qualifying quarterback. Since the start of last season, Boyd has thrown 31 touchdowns on passes of this distance.
