Kansas picks up first 2011 commit

Blue Springs (Mo.) running back Darrian Miller committed to Kansas on Thursday, giving Turner Gill and the Jayhawks their first commitment for the 2011 recruiting season.

Miller, a 5-foot-10, 185-pounder, ran for 2,798 yards and scored 37 touchdowns at Blue Springs last season. He was also considering Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Louisville and Minnesota. He was also named Missouri's Gatorade Player of the Year last season.

Kansas running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Reggie Mitchell was Miller's lead recruiter.
