Colorado coach Dan Hawkins missed out on his biggest remaining recruiting target when defensive back Byron Moore of Harbor City, Calif., announced he will attend USC.
Moore had been an early commitment for the Trojans but had considered several other schools in recent weeks, most notably Colorado and Notre Dame. The Buffaloes had been considered among the favorites as Moore had taken his final recruiting trip to Boulder last week.
Scouts love his playmaking abilities and project him as a safety in college football. He would have been ideally suited to play in the Big 12 because of those skills.
Instead, the lure of staying close to home and playing for Pete Carroll and the Trojans proved too hard for him to resist.
