No luck for Kansas State in search for quarterback

Mississippi capitalized on momentum from its Cotton Bowl victory by luring dual-threat quarterback Raymond Cotton from Meade, Md., over a field of suitors that also included Kansas State.

Cotton was ranked as the nation's No. 28 quarterback by Scouts Inc. He was an early commitment to Auburn who changed his mind after his prime recruiter James Willis was let go in the coaching change.

Scouts love his size and strength but are concerned about his mechanics. But with the loss of Josh Freeman, he would have been a nice fit for the Wildcats.
