OSU's Robinson and Pettigrew sit out scrimmage

Oklahoma State starting QB Zac Robinson and TE Brandon Pettigrew sat out the Cowboys' 120-play scrimmage Saturday in Stillwater, Okla.

"There was no reason for them to be out there," Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said.

Backup QBs Alex Cate and Brandon Weeden both directed scoring drives with Robinson sitting out the practice. Weeden scored on a short keeper and also rifled a short TD pass to WR Dez Bryant. Cate hooked up on a 25-yard TD pass to freshman WR Bo Bowling. Freshman RB Kye Staley added a short TD plunge.

About 2,000 fans turned out to watch the opening scrimmage, which was interrupted because of the threat of lightning. After a 53-minute delay, the Cowboys returned to the field to complete the workout.

"It [the weather] was a little bit of a distraction," Gundy said. "I felt bad for the fans. We had a nice crowd and they had to make a decision on whether to leave or not. Obviously, we were waiting on the lightning and quite a few of them had to head out."

Oklahoma State's defense produced two scoring plays as senior DT Jeray Chatham notched a safety and CB Jacob Lacey returning an interception for a touchdown.
