Vince Young, the only obvious beneficiary of Reggie Bush's now forfeited Heisman, released a statement via Twitter on Tuesday.
“just heard about Reggie’s Heisman. Reg will continue to be the 2005 Award recipient and I will continue to be honored to have been in the 2005 Heisman campaign with such a talented athlete.”
A classy gesture, but the contradicting comments from different parties has made it all a bit muddled. Mack Brown said he should get it. Young's mom said "they" don't want it. Young himself said on Monday he "definitely" wants it.
For now it looks like the Heisman will go unclaimed.
Don't worry, everybody. The Wikipedia entry has been amended. We can all sleep a bit easier now.
