The careers of Iowa State center Mike Knapp and wide receiver Alex Sandvig will end because of lingering knee injuries, ISU coach Paul Rhoads told reporters on Monday.
Knapp, a 6-foot-3, 260-pound senior, started four games for the Cyclones last season. Sandvig is a redshirt freshman receiver who did not play last season. His older brother, Zac, is a junior defensive back for the Cyclones.
Neither player was listed on the Cyclones' spring depth chart, but Rhoads said that Knapp's injury will have some consequences to the team.
"The depth is very much affected in the offensive line," Rhoads told the Des Moines Register. "Losing that kind of depth is something we can't afford on the offensive line.
"Alex will be missed as well, [but] the impact will be less there because of depth that already exists."
