Big 12 Heisman Watch: Week 7

1. Taylor Martinez, QB, Nebraska: For the first time all season, I've put a Big 12 player on my Heisman Watch ballot, and it's Martinez. He's the most electrifying player in the Big 12 and by far the biggest threat to break the big play. His 12 rushing touchdowns lead the nation, and he's already broken a pair of 80-yard scores, looking like the best running quarterback in the Big 12 since Vince Young. Kansas State's defense isn't great, but Martinez is already one of the fastest players in the Big 12 and he's going to be breaking these runs against most defenses all season. I wouldn't be surprised if his 241 yards against Kansas State doesn't stand as his career high for very long.

2. Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma: Jones was off last week, but is still riding a solid, two-touchdown, turnover-free performance in the 28-20 win over Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

3. Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State: A first-time member of this list, Blackmon is turning heads with acrobatic catches and eye-popping numbers in Oklahoma State's new offense. Against Louisiana-Lafayette, he set career highs with 13 catches for 190 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and has 230 more receiving yards than any other player in the Big 12. His 9.4 catches per game and 11 touchdowns are the most in college football in both statistics.

4. Kendall Hunter, RB, Oklahoma State: Hunter had a solid game against the Ragin' Cajuns, but the Cowboys would be well served to get the elusive, yet powerful back plenty more touches. The offense hums along much more efficiently the more he gets the ball. He has nine rushing touchdowns on the year and his 700 yards are fifth-most nationally.

5. DeMarco Murray, RB, Oklahoma: Murray had a fantastic game against Texas, who leads the Big 12 in total defense, rushing for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns, his second-best game of the year. Facing one of the conference's worst run defenses in Iowa State, he could be due for a big week in Norman on Saturday.

Finally, here's my ballot for this week's Heisman Watch on ESPN.com:

1. Kellen Moore

2. Denard Robinson

3. LaMichael James

4. Terrelle Pryor

5. Taylor Martinez
