Big 12 back on top in computers

The ESPN's Stats & Info blog has punched the numbers and released this week's conference rankings, and the Big 12 is back at No. 1, according to the computers.

Texas' entrance into the AP poll also helped the conference jump back over the Mountain West Conference and into fourth place, according to human polls. Air Force's loss to San Diego State and subsequent exit from the polls has given the Big 12 a sizeable lead -- six points -- while trailing the Big Ten by less than two points for the No. 2 spot below the SEC.

"The top four conferences are all packed tight in the computers so one more top 25 upset loss by the SEC and the conference may find itself without the lead for the first time this season," writes Albert Larcada.
