The Big 12's future is still in flux, with A&M likely headed to the SEC and Oklahoma looking like the program that will ultimately decide if the Big 12 exits or not.
But, with the league tied up in legal threats right now, let's take a look at how BYU has done historically against the Big 12.
Here's how BYU stacks up against the Big 12:
Baylor and BYU split a series in 1983 and 1984, but haven't met since. Baylor won the 1983 matchup 40-36, but lost 47-13 in 1984.
Iowa State (0-4)
Look at the Cyclones repping the Big 8! All four meetings were between 1968 and 1974, but Iowa State beat BYU by two points in 1973 and 1974. Iowa State also beat BYU 28-20 in 1968 before a 10-0 shutout in 1969 in Ames.
The Jayhawks won the only meeting, 23-20 in the Aloha Bowl. I believe that game is located somewhere in Boise, Idaho.
Kansas State (4-4)
The two teams haven't met since 1997, when a top 5 BYU team beat Kansas State 19-15 in the Cotton Bowl. The Cougars preyed on the Wildcats in the pre-Bill Snyder lean years, though.
BYU beat the Tigers 21-17 in the 1983 Holiday Bowl.
Coleby Clawson was infamously the player that knocked Sam Bradford out in a shocking 14-13 win to kick off the 2009 season, but BYU also beat Oklahoma 31-6 in the 1994 Copper Bowl.
Oklahoma State (0-2)
The Cowboys won both meetings in bowl games. OSU won 16-6 in the 1974 Fiesta Bowl and knocked off the Cougars 49-21 in the 1976 Tangerine Bowl.
BYU lost for the first time ever against Texas on Saturday night, but beat the Longhorns 47-6 in Provo in the team's last meeting back in 1988. The Cougars won 22-17 in Austin in 1987.
Texas Tech (0-1)
Texas Tech won the only meeting in 1940, 21-20.
Total record: 10-14
Bonus round: Texas A&M (2-1)
The two haven't met since 1996, but also met in 1979. BYU won the last matchup, 41-37.
So, what can we take from this?
Well, not much. It's interesting to look at, though. Only two Big 12 teams (Texas, Oklahoma) have played BYU in the new Willenium, but the ambitious scheduling Cougars have had really good success against the Big 12 powers.
If nothing else, that gives them a little credibility if they eventually enter the league.
