Two from Big 12 on Good Works Team

Two Big 12 players were named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works team.

The 11-man FBS team was trimmed from 132 nominations, and recognizes players for positive contributions off the field. Eleven more players were selected from lower divisions of college football.

"The tremendous community service activities these young student-athletes participate in is exceptional," said Grant Teaff, executive director of the American Football Coaches Association. "These 22 student-athletes have sacrificed their personal time in an attempt to make their communities a better place."

Seven Big 12 players were nominated for this year's team, and Oklahoma safety Quinton Carter and Sam Acho, Emmuanuel's older brother, were on last year's team.

The Achos have accompanied their parents to various mission trips to Nigeria to help with medical care.

Griffin has volunteered for the Special Olympics and Friends for Life, a daycare for the mentally challenged.
