Tech loses top running back with a leg injury

Texas Tech running back Eric Stephens dropped a pass and the play was nearing its end, but Texas A&M linebacker Damontre Moore came in for a hit and Stephens ended up in the locker room.

His leg bent awkwardly and he was down for several minutes before leaving on a cart. The Red Raiders fans chanted "Er-ic Ste-phens!" as he rode into the locker room while flashing a "Guns up" signal.

Two plays later, Texas Tech scored on a 5-yard touchdown catch from Seth Doege to Eric Ward to cut the Texas A&M lead to 38-30 late in the third quarter.

Stephens' injury looked serious, but it's always hard to tell with joints until MRI and X-ray results come in. Stephens looked headed for a 1,000-yard season and already topped 100 yards with a touchdown earlier in the game.

You hate to see injuries like that. Here's hoping Stephens can make it back before too long.
