No date with Sparty for West Virginia

West Virginia planned to face Michigan State in a home-and-home series in 2014 and 2015, but life is different in the Big 12 than in the Big East.

Those games won't be happening.

Last year, Big East teams had room for five nonconference games and seven conference games. The Big 12 plays nine conference games.

West Virginia already canceled a game with Florida State this coming season, and Michigan State announced it would replace West Virginia with Oregon in 2014 and 2015.

Too bad we won't see some great games happen in East Lansing and Morgantown, but such is life. The Mountaineers will have plenty of big-name opponents heading east very soon. The schedule will toughen up, but keeping games with Florida State and Michigan State, in addition to the nine-game schedule, is borderline crazy for WVU.

Good for the Spartans for agreeing to strap it up, though.
