WVU, ISU grab Big 12 Player of Week honors

The Big 12 has named its official players of the week.

Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia: Smith completed 32-of-36 passes for 323 yards and four touchdowns in the Mountaineers' 69-34 win over Marshall. He also ran for 65 yards and a touchdown. He sat the fourth quarter and was named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week. Smith also became the school's all-time leader in completions and touchdown passes on Saturday.

Isaiah Bruce, LB, West Virginia: Bruce made 16 tackles (7 solo) and returned a fumble 43 yards for a third-quarter touchdown. Bruce's only tackle for loss of the day was for eight yards. His 16 tackles were a game high in the win over Marshall.

Kirby Van Der Kamp, P, Iowa State: Van Der Kamp averaged 43 yards on his nine punts during the Cyclones' 38-23 win over Tulsa. Five of those punts were pinned inside the 20-yard line, sticking the Tulsa offense in awful field position. Those five drives began at the 2, 9, 15, 8 and 13-yard lines.
