In this space each week, we'll rehash the previous week's game predictions. It could be ugly some weeks, others could be quite sweet on my end.
Either way, we'll examine the carnage every week. This week, it was more of the former.
Here's how I did in Week 5:
Overall: 31-7 (.816)
My pick: Kansas State 44, Kansas 17
Actual score: Kansas State 56, Kansas 16
Hindsight: Thought Kansas State would roll. After some early struggles (and Jayhawk trickery), it did. Bill Snyder has no time for mercy on KU, who is 0-4 against FBS competition this season. Not good.
My pick: Texas Tech 28, Oklahoma 27
Actual score: Oklahoma 41, Texas Tech 13
Hindsight: Whiffed big time on this one. Oklahoma had looked uninspired all season ... until Saturday. I thought Texas Tech was still a little underrated and Oklahoma overrated, and picked Texas Tech to spring the upset. After a huge third quarter, Oklahoma turned it into a rout. The Sooners dominated for 60 minutes.
My pick: TCU 17, Iowa State 16
Actual score: Iowa State 37, TCU 23
Hindsight: I almost switched my pick after Casey Pachall's suspension, but I went with TCU to rally around Trevone Boykin and run the ball to win. Nope. Matthew Tucker didn't play, but Iowa State's offense came alive under Jared Barnett and a huge game from Josh Lenz. Great stuff from Iowa State. I underestimated the Cyclones here.
My pick: West Virginia 41, Texas 38
Actual score: West Virginia 48, Texas 45
Hindsight: If not for Andrew Buie's last touchdown that gave Texas the ball back, I would have had this one on the button. Still, I got pretty close on this one. I was surprised more people weren't on the Mountaineers. The picks heavily favored Texas, but I barely saw this as an upset. I thought it was basically a toss-up.
