Texas Tech coach Mike Leach spent part of his bye week with a visit through the ESPN campus at the organization's headquarters in Bristol, Conn.
Leach said he was struck by how fast-paced the visit was, saying he was shuttled to television and radio appearances and an ESPN.com chat session in short order.
But he said the most memorable part of his visit was to the facility's mammoth cafeteria.
"You go in the cafeteria and it's literally like a high school cafeteria, except it's filled with all these celebrity broadcasters and former athletes running around," Leach said. "It was like a whirlwind. It was tough to remember to everything because it was pretty fast and they moved me around from one place to the next."
His lack of time impacted what he ate for lunch during his visit.
"They had a good salad bar, but there was a pretty big line for it, so I had the turkey sandwich, which was fresh, they make it right in front of you," he said. "They also have this kind of natural fruit smoothie thing. I had that and some green tea."
Other Big 12 coaches and players had preceded Leach on a trip to Bristol to meet with ESPN officials and contribute to the various programming platforms. Among those who have visited include Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, Missouri coach Gary Pinkel and Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy.
