Five from Big 12 up for Hornung Award

Four Big 12 players are among 44 on the watch list for the Paul Hornung Award, given annually to the most versatile player in college football.

West Virginia's Tavon Austin won the third Hornung award in 2012.

Here's who's on the list from the Big 12 this year:

Lockett and Thompson were the Big 12's best return men at their respective specialties last season, but Gilbert was the Big 12's best return man in 2011. No Big 12 players will be favorites for this award like Austin, who made a mark as a receiver, running back and punt returner.

Look out for Kent State's Dri Archer, Clemson's Sammy Watkins or Oregon's De'Anthony Thomas at the top of this watch list. See the full list here.
