Nebraska coaches have been saying that the return of freshman I-back Rex Burkhead brings back a different dimension to the Cornhuskers' offense.
Burkhead showed his between-the-tackles running power by ripping through Colorado on a pivotal drive. His 7-yard touchdown run with 6:43 left has put the Cornhuskers into a seemingly safe 28-14 lead.
Burkhead, who missed much of the season with a foot injury, accounted for four straight carries early in the scoring drive. And he capped the series with the last four carries for 22 yards, finishing with 55 yards on nine carries on the 13-play, 80-yard drive.
He's already recorded a career-high 93 yards so far to lead the Cornhuskers' offensive attack.
His emergence gives Nebraska a second running threat to go with Roy Helu Jr. It will be important in the Cornhuskers' upcoming championship game matchup against Texas.
