What a difference a year has made for Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads.
A year ago Monday, Rhoads was looking for work. He had been let go after the coaching change at Auburn and was between jobs.
Fast forward a year and Rhoads and Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard participated Monday in the opening bell ceremony of the NASDAQ stock exchange in New York along with Insight Bowl competitor Tim Brewster of Minnesota.
Rhoads was hired by Pollard last Dec. 20. He led the Cyclones to an unexpected 6-6 record, including an upset victory at Nebraska that ultimately helped push ISU into a bowl game for the first time since 2005.
Ringing bells on Wall Street was a nice honor for that season.
But I bet that Rhoads is more interested in winning his bowl game a few weeks from now.
