I’m on my way to Irving, Texas, this morning for the Big 12’s annual spring meetings with the conference’s athletic directors and league office officials.
At the top of the agenda will be the looming changes in governance among the Power 5 conferences (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC).
Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby has been pushing for increased autonomy from the smaller leagues, which would allow the schools with bigger budgets to provide greater benefits for their student-athletes. What those benefits would entail could be something that is discussed this week.
