Jeffcoat set for Jan. 22 visit to OU

The bowls are over and recruiting season is starting to heat up.

As such, I await my daily missives from Tom Luginbill, the esteemed national recruiting director for ESPN's Scouts Inc., with increasing interest these days.

Here's some Big 12-related tidbits that Luginbill shared with me.

DE Jackson Jeffcoat

Five-star defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat (Plano, Texas/West) has canceled his previously scheduled official visit to Florida for Jan. 15, ESPN's Gerry Hamilton reports.

He has already made official visits to Arizona State (Nov. 6), Texas (Nov. 20) and USC (Nov. 27). Jeffcoat has also made an unofficial visit to Houston, where his father, Jim, is an assistant defensive coach.

The nation's top defensive end has an official visit planned for Oklahoma on Jan. 22nd.

Jeffcoat finished his senior campaign registering 68 1/2 tackles, 8 1/2 sacks and two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) earning first-team Class 5A All-State and district defensive player of the year recognition.

WR Kadron Boone

Ocala, FL

Trinity Catholic H.S.

Position Rank: 17

Under Armour All-American wide receiver Kadron Boone (Ocala, Fla./Trinity Catholic) remains committed to Texas Tech but is making official visits, ESPN's Gerry Hamilton reports.

He went to Louisville this past weekend and is scheduled to visit LSU this weekend (Jan. 15).

Georgia and West Virginia are also in contention to receive official visits.

Boone originally picked the Red Raiders in August. Several other programs including Miami-FL, Clemson, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Oklahoma and South Carolina also offered.

ILB Evan Harrington

Bowie, MD

College of the Canyons (CA)

Evan Harrington, a 6-foot-0, 220-pound linebacker from College of the Canyons, Calif., has made a Class of 2010 decision to play for Colorado.

Originally from Bowie, Md., he also drew offers from Nevada, UTEP and Utah State.

Colorado now has 15 commitments.

RB Ketauras Stanton

Diboll, TX

Cisco Junior College (TX)

Louisiana Tech has landed a Class of 2010 pledge from 225-pound running back Ketauras Stanton of Cisco CC, Texas.

Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma State and TCU also made offers.

Stanton, originally from Diboll, Texas, had signed with the Bulldogs as a high-schooler.

WR Carey Fortson

Longview, TX

Longview H.S.

Scouts Grade: 40

Wide receiver Carey Fortson of Longview, Texas, has made a Class of 2010 commitment to Louisiana Tech.

Programs such as Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, TCU, SMU and North Texas also recruited the 6-foot-0, 165-pound Fortson.

WR Joshua Bellamy

St. Petersburg, FL

Butte College (CA)

A 6-foot-1, 207-pound receiver/safety, Joshua Bellamy of Boca Ciega (St. Petersburg, Fla.)/Butte CC, Calif., plans to join South Florida for the Class of 2010.

He signed with USF in 2007 and Iowa State in 2009, but did not qualify for either program.

RB Adam Muema

Covina, CA

Charter Oak H.S.

Covina running back Adam Muema set for San Diego State

The Aztecs have gained a commitment from Adam Muema, who rushed for 1938 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior for Charter Oak (Covina, Calif.).

Colorado, Washington State, Nevada and UTEP also offered the 5-foot-11, 187-pound player.

"San Diego State just felt like the best fit for me," he told ESPN's Greg Biggins. "I like the offense and how they plan to use me. I like all the coaches and the location is perfect. It's not too far from home but still far enough for me to feel like I'm going away to college."

TE Noah Cheshier

Wylie, TX

Position Rank: 60

6-foot-3, 240-pound Noah Cheshier, who played quarterback as a senior for Wylie, Texas, has committed to the Bulldogs for tight end in the Class of 2010.

Cheshier also was offered by Illinois, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas and Wake Forest. He played tight end as a junior.

DE Aljoshua Tillman

Meadville, MS

Copiah-Lincoln Community College (MS)

Aljoshua Tillman, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive end from Franklin (Meadville, Miss.)/Copiah-Lincoln CC, Miss., has signed a Class of 2010 offer from Louisiana Tech.

Tillman also considered offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Iowa, Memphis, Mississippi and Texas Tech.

He registered five sacks during 2009 and 11.5 sacks as a freshman at Copiah-Lincoln. Tillman will transfer as a junior with two years of eligibility remaining.
