Kansas snapped its 19-game Big 12 losing streak Saturday with a stunning 24-21 win over Texas in overtime.

Jayhawks defensive end Dorance Armstrong Jr. played a big part in Kansas' second win of the season. He finished with a career-high 11 tackles, including three for loss, to go along with two sacks. On top of that, Armstrong stripped Texas QB Tyrone Swoopes to force a fumble he also recovered on his way to earning co-Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Armstrong now leads the Big 12 with 10 sacks and 17 tackles for loss.

This week, he spoke with ESPN.com about the big victory over the Longhorns and what it means for the program moving forward:

What was it like in the locker room after that win?

Armstrong: There was a little more excitement to it (than the Rhode Island win). A lot of guys going crazy. The coaches were going crazy. It felt good to experience that, especially a Big 12 win. There was definitely lot of excitement. It felt real good.

What was going through your mind when Matthew Wyman's kick went through the uprights to give you the win?

Armstrong: I was standing on the bench, I watched the whole play go through. I was very proud of Wyman making that field goal. The other game, he wasn't able to do that, that TCU game. But he wasn't scared to kick it. I watched the fans storm the field, watched them celebrate with the team, before I could even step off the bench. It was a good place to be to celebrate.

What did you learn about your team from that game?

Armstrong: We know as a team we can beat any team in the Big 12. We knew why we weren't winning. We weren't putting a full game together. Saturday we did. Offense, defense, special teams. We did that and came out with a victory. Now, we need to do it again. We have something to prove this week (against Kansas State).

Having come so close a couple of times, what did that mean to finally get that Big 12 win and snap the conference losing streak?

Armstrong: We worked all year to get that win. To finally have it, it means a lot. We have momentum off that game, now we need to prepare the same way, play that same way to get that second victory. We get that second victory over another good team, we'll say we can beat any team in the Big 12.

What did that mean for you guys in terms of giving Coach [David] Beaty his first Big 12 win?

Armstrong: That win meant a lot to everybody, especially our seniors. Coach Beaty, it was his first Big 12 win. It was good to get him that win, he was excited.

I believe you guys carried him into the locker room?

Armstrong: Yeah, they definitely carried him inside.

It looked like he had some dance moves going too?

Armstrong: I don't know what he was doing. I guess that's the way he dances. He did that for a couple songs.

Last question, where's the best local place in Lawrence to eat after a big win?

Armstrong: Encore Cafe. I get the orange chicken, that's the only type of food I eat there. I don't know what kind of food orange chicken is, but I love eating it.
