Pitt lands star running back

Pittsburgh received some good news today when highly-regarded running back prospect Jameel Poteat gave the Panthers a verbal commitment.

Poteat is ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 18 running back in his class by ESPN's Scouts Inc. He was also being recruited by Rutgers, Cincinnati, Iowa and USC and had offers from Notre Dame, Florida, Tennessee and a host of other schools.

But Pitt had some traditions in its favor. Poteat attends Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pa., the same school as LeSean McCoy. Poteat's older cousin Hank played for the Panthers.

Poteat measures 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds and has rushed for more than 3,000 yards with 50 touchdowns in three prep seasons. It looks like the running back tradition at Pitt will continue.
