I'm back from my Derby weekend adventure and wanted to pick up this story from while I was away. Cincinnati backup quarterback Chazz Anderson is transferring to a lower-level school for his senior year so he can play his final season, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
Anderson was Zach Collaros' backup last year and made one start in a loss to Syracuse. He also made two starts in relief of the injured Tony Pike in 2008, winning both of them as the Bearcats went on to claim the Big East title.
The Bearcats looked at Anderson at receiver toward the end of spring practice as he sought a way to get on the field. His departure now leaves Cincinnati with no experienced backup to Collaros this season.
Georgia Tech transfer Jordan Luallen appears to be the leader for the No. 2 job, though he is still refining his throwing motion after playing in option offenses. Sophomore Munchie Legaux, who played receiver last year, and junior Brendon Kay are the other main options.
