Is Syracuse still in mix for Chad Kelly?

Top ESPNU150 quarterback prospect Chad Kelly is set to announce where he will play today amid reports that Syracuse is no longer in contention.

Kelly, the nephew of Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, has a 3 p.m. ET news conference set at St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, his high school in Buffalo. He had narrowed his list to Florida State, Michigan State, Syracuse, Clemson, Alabama and Buffalo. But one local television station is reporting that Kelly will pick between FSU, Clemson and Alabama.

Last year, Kelly became the first prep quarterback in New York to pass for 2,000 yards and run for 1,000 yards in one season. He is ranked the No. 80 overall prospect and No. 5 quarterback prospect on the ESPNU150 list. Here is what ESPN Recruiting has to say about the 6-foot-2, 205-pound four-star player:

Kelly is a really intriguing overall prospect. It is easy to see he has an impressive skill set, but he is also very raw as a passer. He possesses ideal size and terrific overall athleticism, in fact he may be a better overall athlete with definitive traits that he is a quarterback prospect at this time. He has height, he has great feet and he can run. Frame development will come and he could be a candidate to play as TE or S/OLB if he does not remain at quarterback. He is long and lanky with good feet and a nice feel in the pocket. Plays primarily out of the shotgun in a spread scheme that really utilizes his versatility.

There is plenty more about him, but you have to be an Insider.
