There was not much excitement in the first half between Syracuse and Rhode Island. The Orange are up 14-7 but have had their share of problems on defense.
Specifically with missed tackles that have turned short gains into much bigger ones. The defense looked shaky in the first three quarters against Wake Forest last week. This week, missing starters Chandler Jones and Ri'Shard Anderson, they have not really instilled tons of confidence with the USC game on the horizon.
Offensively, Syracuse has struggled on the ground, averaging 2.6 yards per carry. Ryan Nassib is 15-of-20 for 195 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. No doubt coach Doug Marrone is going to want to see better tackling and much more of an offensive rhythm in the second half.
