Pitt co-offensive coordinator Calvin Magee and assistants Tony Dews and Tony Gibson have left the staff for another coaching opportunity, coach Todd Graham announced Sunday.
It is expected the three will join Rich Rodriguez in Arizona. All three worked under Rodriguez at previous stops in West Virginia and Michigan. Magee also has been considered for the head coaching job at Massachusetts. Dews coached the tight ends and Gibson. Magee shared coordinator duties with Mike Norvell. They won't coach in the bowl game.
“We will move expeditiously yet thoroughly in finding full-time replacements, and I know we’ll have some exceptional candidates to consider. This is an opportunity for us to strengthen an already strong group of coaches and support staff," Graham said in a statement.
“Moving forward, our coaches will be laser-focused on recruiting and having our team ready to play, and win, a bowl game. We’ve got an incredibly bright future at Pitt and I’m extremely ambitious and enthusiastic about what we can achieve.”
