Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones has opened some eyes since declaring for the NFL draft.
Jones was named one five players who have caught the eye of Scouts Inc. Steve Muench writes:
We watched Jones last year and felt he was bit of a 'tweener, but too slow to be a quality defensive end and not athletic enough to be an outside linebacker. However, he has added 15 to 20 pounds of good weight since then and now looks like a legitimate end prospect.
The added bulk has not taken away his good initial quickness, but the most impressive thing we've seen on film is his flexibility.
He has been tabbed a solid second day selection, meaning he could be taken in the second and third rounds. That makes sense, considering Jones has said he made his decision because he was told told he would be drafted in the first three rounds.
Jones also has made the Top 5 list of NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock, who has ranked the top players at each position. Jones is tied for No. 5 with Andre Branch of Clemson among defensive ends.
