Pitt signed four-star safety Deaysean Rippy on Wednesday morning, as he chose the Panthers over West Virginia.
Rippy said on Twitter: "Wvu thanks for the support and opportunity but Pitt can use my help."
Rippy, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect is listed as one of the top players in the state of Pennsylvania, a big pickup for new coach Paul Chryst.
Already this morning, the Panthers have received letters of intent from some of their top commitments -- ESPNU150 running back Rushel Shell; four-star quarterback Chad Voytik; four-star lineman Adam Bisnowaty and four-star athlete Demitrious Davis. Also signing: tight end J.P. Holtz, linebacker Devon Porchia, receiver Chris Davis, offensive lineman Gabe Roberts and defensive end Darryl Render.
