Now that the offseason is officially here, one of the biggest questions about the upcoming season is whether the Big East will have any teams ranked in the preseason Top 25.
Our friends over at "College Football Live" already have compiled a preseason Top 25. How many Big East teams are featured?
By now, nobody should be surprised. The Big East gets a bad rap nationally, and does not have much in the way of a marquee team with West Virginia gone to the Big 12. Note the Mountaineers are ranked No. 11. But I honestly thought Louisville might sneak in and make the list. The Cardinals have been in a few way too early preseason top-25 rankings, have a very experienced team coming back, and a pretty manageable schedule.
I had a vote in this poll, and had Louisville at No. 23 and Rutgers at No. 25. So you can see I am still unwavering in my belief that those are the top two teams in the Big East. There is no doubt the teams remaining in the league have a lot to prove, particularly in the way of making believers across the country. The last time one of the remaining Big East teams was ranked in the preseason AP poll was Cincinnati at No. 17 in 2008.
We shall see where the Big East ranks when the AP and coaches polls are released in August.
For those interested, "College Football Live" is counting down the preseason Top 20 at 3:30 p.m. ET.
