Louisville is the Big East's preseason favorite, and now it is the conference's only ranked team entering the 2012 season.
The Cardinals are No. 25 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25 poll, which was released Saturday morning. They have given the Big East a presence in the initial AP poll for the third straight season.
South Florida (11 votes) and Cincinnati (3) were the only other schools from the Big East to receive votes, good for 34th and 38th in the nation, respectively.
The conference has not had more than one school appear in the preseason AP poll since 2010. Former Big East school West Virginia, meanwhile, enters its first season in the Big 12 ranked No. 11th in the nation, while future Big East school Boise State comes in at No. 24.
The Big East had no schools ranked in the preseason USA Today coaches' poll, which was released Aug. 2.
